Case Study: Paddington 2

WHAT WE DID: marmalade productions asked us for some funfair props to put in the train carriages for the final scene of the Paddington 2 movie, specifically coconut shy signage, coconut shy pegs, and balls, as these were integral to the scene.

We were able to supply around twenty old signs from our stores, some vintage funfair lighting, and the coconut shy paraphernalia. As our swingboats and carousel were not being used at that time, we also took along a couple of boats and all of our carousel Horses, Cockerels, and Centaurs. They were delivered to the Warner Bros studios near Watford, where they were at the disposal of the crew for around a week. We collected everything once the shoot was finished. It was really that simple. Spoiler alert!! The end of the movie is brilliant, and features Mr. Brown (Hugh Bonneville) throwing a coconut shy ball straight at the head of Phoenix Buchanan (Hugh Grant), which renders him unconscious, allowing for his capture, and Paddington’s rescue. This all takes place in the last carriage of the train, which is decked out with our coconut shy signage, and carousel mounts. Magical!
